Program Description
The MRI Program is two semesters in length, consisting of clinical and classroom
education. An outline of the required courses, and the semester they are
offered, is included on the back of this letter. The goals of the program are:
1.
To provide in-depth education and clinical
experience necessary to prepare the student for the advanced level MRI registry
examination.
2.
To produce technologists who are competent in the
field of MRI with the required knowledge and clinical skills demanded by the
profession.
Program
Requirements
This program requires that the applicant be a registered radiologic technologist
in good standing with the ARRT or permission from the program director.
Applicants may be completing the final semester of their Radiologic Science
training at the time of application. Since the program is designed to conclude
in a baccalaureate degree, added consideration will be given to the student who
has completed the requirements for an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic
Sciences from Boise State University or an equivalent program. In
addition, the following are required:

- Acceptance fee of $15.00
to cover the expense of a nametag and malpractice insurance for both semesters
- Participants in the
program must demonstrate evidence of an annual PPD test, a positive Rubella/Rubeola
titre, Varicella immunity, and current (within the last year) CPR
certification.
- Evidence of health
insurance
- The student is
responsible to provide transportation to and from their clinical sites.
*Radiology students
unable to prove they have passed the ARRT registry by the first day of the Fall
semester will be removed from the MR program and all MR courses in which they
may be registered.
Application Process
Completed applications, transcripts, and reference forms must be in the
Department of Radiologic Sciences at BSU no later than March 1 to be
considered for the program. The student selection process requires the
applicants to undergo an interview process with the clinical instructors from
the participating clinical agencies. Students for the MRI program will be
selected by March 31. Classes for the MRI program will begin with the Fall
semester of each year. The student will also need to apply for general
admission to the University. Admission forms, schedule of current enrollment
